Equal Work for All

In this modern world, both men and women are considered at par with each other. Women have been increasingly stepping into men’s fields and work areas, while men have also started to take work at home and raising kids as their field of expertise in the new modern western world. The notion that men work outside and women work inside the homes is getting blurred day by day. But still the situation is far from being satisfactory especially in the Asian countries, where children especially those in their pre-teens are still dependent on their mothers and sisters to help them through their daily chores. They are still fed by their mothers and not by their fathers.

We are still into the habit of depending on our family members. Children usually call their mother first and father later when they need help. Since the birth of the child, it is mostly the mother who is taking the responsibility of the child, to make him or her grow up and to nurture him or her well.Laundry is not just a woman work but men should also wash off their clothes or help their partner in it.Males at least get a day off in the week, but a mother’s or a household wife’s duty is without any break even if she is ill or even too tired to get up, she will be walking away to the kitchen to ensure her kids and her husband don’t go hungry to school and work. All of this hurts to see when no one realizes the effort put in by the lady of the house. From getting up first in the morning to sleeping the last, late at night, she is the one ensuring everything is done properly in the house.

We all should help our mothers and sisters in the household work, to reduce the load and burden on them. We should respect their contribution to the running of the household, as without their contribution everything in the house will just be in a deep mess and no one will be able to function properly. When efforts are recognized and appreciated then everyone feels respected and worthy and one gets motivated to do the work more effectively. The males should also help whenever possible and they should also devote their free time in-house hold activities to share the responsibilities of the females. It doesn’t make one less manly if they do house hold work instead it increases the respect for a person by seeing the respect and appreciation he has for his wife and her work and contribution towards the family.

I am joining the Ariel #ShareTheLoad campaign at BlogAdda and blogging about the prejudice related to household chores being passed on to the next generation.
